How it Works

Administration

The NRS is governed and largely funded by three major stakeholders: the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) representing advertising agencies, the Newspaper Publishers Association (NPA) representing national newspapers, and the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) representing magazine publishers. The Survey is administered and published by National Readership Surveys Limited, a company set up in 1992 for that purpose. Prior to this, the Survey was for many years administered by JICNARS (Joint Industry Committee for National Readership Surveys). The board of NRS Ltd is made up of representatives from the three main stakeholders - IPA, NPA and PPA - and from the Incorporated Society of British Advertisers (ISBA) as well as the Chairman and Managing Director of NRS Ltd.
